Biography

Sue Floyd has been passionate about music for as long as she can remember. Her memories of learning the recorder and clarinet, reach back to her early school days, where she would later go on to fall in love with the Saxophone.

It was a small school band that would set the musical foundations for Sue. Subsequently, playing became more than just a hobby and formed an intrinsic strand in her life; a quality that has clearly made Sue the success she is today.

After a little experience, it wasn’t long before Sue would begin hitting the pub and club circuit. At 14, it was no doubt a risky strategy for self promotion, but it was a real buzz and an opportunity for experience to do what she loved most.

From here, dedication, hard work and a little bit of luck led Sue on a musical journey that would quite literally take her around the world.  At 21, it was Bon Voyage to normal life as Sue had landed a position on a cruise liner. Exploring Europe and South America whilst playing night after night in a show band was a dream come true.

Although Sue’s main priority for some years later was her family, she continued to pursue her passion through teaching and playing. For many years she took lessons with fellow musician, Bryan Etherington whilst playing regular gigs with a six piece soul band called JCB and Soul Diggers. For 12 years, Sue would continue playing in this band and it was here she took solo spots on the Sax.

It is with great credit to her achievements and supportive family that Sue Floyd is now taking regular bookings as a solo artist at special events. The easy-listening repertoire that she plays, could in fact emulate her own life soundtrack, with a mixture of Jazz and Soul classics through to modern day hits. Although the success is highly commendable, it is evident that Sue’s motivation remains in bringing music to life with SimplySax.

  • Dear Sue, On behalf of Esporta/Virgin Active Romford we would like to thank you for playing at our club. This was a memorable night and I received some really positive feedback from our customers.

I personally found your music to be absolutely amazing and having a real interest in the Saxophone myself, I can find that I’m critical about my music I listen to and your standard was truly fantastic. The staff at Romford had a great night and the moral in the club was also very good.Thank you so much for an amazing night.

  • Sue played at my 40th Birthday party last year (2011). I was originally going to have a live band but they let me down the week before, so all I had at the time was a disco. I had invited Sue and her husband and to my great surprise she had brought her saxophone with her. She played with backing music for about an hour and was excellent. Everybody I have spoken to since have said how good she was.

I have heard Sue play many times before with bands and she has always been great. I have known her go to parties and just play with the band with out any prior practice and sound great as though she had been with them for years.

    I WOULD RECOMMEND SUE
    FOR ANY PARTY. JASON YARD

  • Hi Sue, it was lovely to meet you on Friday and on behalf of Haven House, I would like to thank you for attending the Autumn Soiree and performing during the reception. It was great to have a saxophone solo; it added real prestige to the event and you played so beautifully, thank you!

The Soiree was a huge success for Haven House, judged not only by the amount of people there, but most importantly, by the amount raised. We are still calculating the total, but the auction alone raised a whopping £16,900!
Thank you once again Sue and we look forward to seeing you again soon!

  • I would like to thank you for giving our residents a marvellous evening of entertainment; it was much appreciated by all the residents and staff who attended. It was especially important to our residents with dementia who can still appreciate good music, so to see the smiles on their faces was incredible. The residents also enjoyed the opportunity to dance to your music as they could remember the tunes from way back.

  • Dear Sue, just wanted to say thanks for making our office event such a memorable one!  I had no idea how I was going to squeeze live music into our small office but you were the perfect choice. The 45 minute set you did during our drinks reception was just enough to get the evening off to the right start and made a great impact on our clients.

MANY THANKS, WE HOPE TO BOOK YOU AGAIN NEXT YEAR! BRIAN HODDY B.G.HODDY & CO (ACCOUNTANTS)

  • I was looking for a saxophone player, for easy listening entertainment to play at our wedding event, before the disco and I came across Susan Floyd from searching last minute sax players.. I listened to a few of her tunes on her website and then made contact. Susan was absolutely brilliant in my opinion. She exceeded all of my expectations and my guests were bowled over. (I notice one of my guests has also done her own review) I asked Susan if she knew “us and them” by pink floyd and she didn’t. She went away, learnt the track and played it along with the song n the evening and She absolutely smashed it , it sounded phenomenal. I was nervous about getting someone for my wedding from a random website and not having had any personal reviews, but believe me, if you chooses Susan floyd to play at your event you WILL NOT be disappointed. She even played along with my father, who plays the harmonica. Susan, thank-you for doing an amazing professional job and sharing our wedding with us. You were fantastic and I really hope we have the pleasure of meeting again in the future.

  • Having seen Simply Sax at a family wedding that I recently attended, I have to say how wonderful it was to see a young lady playing saxophone. She played a great range of songs, some that I remember from my days as a youngster and plenty more that kept other younger guests entertained. A beautiful sound to listen to whilst we were having our welcome drinks. Thank you ‘Simply Sax’ for making the occasion extra special. I will definitely recommend you to our friends whose daughter is due to be married soon.
